In this post I talk about Mobile Phones
July 26, 2008I’ve been trying to steer clear from mobile phones since I wanted to make this blog PC-centric but I must admit there’s nothing really new with softwares nor hardwares as of late (that would capture your attention, at least). With that, I went ahead and wrote a mobile phone post, which should be more appropriately entitled, “Phones I’m Saving Money for for Christmas.”
Nokia E71
Forget about your brick-sized business phone and gaze at the 10mm thick E71. Yep, you read it right - 10mm, making the E71 the world’s thinnest full QWERTY keyboard phone. Its frame doesn’t limit its capabilities though, having bluetooth, WiFi, HSDPA, A-GPS and even a 3.2 megapixel camera and a front-face camera for video chat under its belt. Other cool features include:
- Auto-completion and error correction for better email management
- Capable of connecting to office intranet via secure VPN
- Two customizable home screens that lets you switch from work to play as quickly as you change your mood.

iPhone 3G
We’ve heard rants about the first iPhone and stories about the rich idiots who still went ahead and bought this thing in spite of the bad reviews to then complain about the features. But I say, the phone is still the best at what it does and can do - iPod, widescreen video and photos, separate SMS conversation threads, oh you know the rest! And with the introduction of its 3G successor, which packs a fast wireless 3G technology, GPS mapping, and Microsoft Exchange capability, the iPhone tends to have become sexier. But still, I’m not into their “revolutionary phone, widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device” sales pitch. Wow! A breakthrough Internet device! Brilliant!

Sony Ericsson Xperia (X1)
Now this one’s made me wet my balls! I’ve been on Sony Ericsson even since Ericsson hasn’t merged with Sony. I say its user-friendly interface kicks that of Nokia anyday. Its Arc slider design, touch-screen interface, 3-inch wide VGA display, A-GPS, and premium metal body totally gets my approval. And that’s saying a lot. Well, not really. But the point is, Sony Ericsson hasn’t failed me functionality-wise. More about the X1 here.
