Utilizing Google: Link, Define, Currency Conversion, etc.

June 25, 2008

About two years ago, I published an item on The Man Blog that listed several customization procedures in Google. While these fun features seem downright cool, many people are yet to discover the vast potential of the world’s most famous search engine. That said, I give you Google advanced operators (or other things Google is good for besides doing Olivia Munn image search).

Thanks to Google, the government found the whereabouts of the suppressive leader just by hitting “I’m Feeling Lucky”.

  • Define - Need to know what Antidisestablishmentarianism is? Google can immediately provide definitions if you key define: antidisestablishmentarianism in the search bar.
  • Currency conversion - So you want to monitor your local money currency’s relative strength across the board? Simply type in the conversion you’d like into the Google search box and the answer will be provided directly under the search results. Say, US dollars to Philippine Peso. Note: Always be specific as to which country’s currency you’re referring to. Peso is currently being used not only in the Philippines but also in Chile, Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay and Mexico.
  • Unit conversion and built-in calculator - Using various math operators (such as +, -, *, ^, %, and /), you can perform basic arithmetic calculations in Google. So as do measurement conversions in both English and metric units (e.g. 26 liters to gallons; 75 years in seconds, which is about the number of ticks in an average person’s life span).
  • Word search in a website - Wanna know how many times a certain word appears on a site? Then type the word followed by site: and the URL of said website. (e.g. penis site:man-blog.com. Yep, that’s ten search page results of penis reference right there, people.)
  • Link search - So you’re a link-whore. Find out which sites has links that point to your site by typing link: then followed by the URL (e.g. link:ballsofsteel.i.ph).

I beg to disagree, Reverend.

And there goes some of the not-so-famous Google features that you can amaze your friends with provided that you have real-life friends to amaze to begin with. This here site tells more about said Google functions.

Some time ago, I needed to buy a building for my business but I didn’t have enough money and couldn’t buy anything. Thank goodness my comrade suggested to get the credit loans from banks. So, I did that and used to be happy with my small business loan.

Updates

I update this blog every Tuesday and Friday. If, in a most unfortunate and unforeseeable circumstance that I fail to do so, below is an image of Olivia Munn making out with an Apple TV. I hope that will suffice. Yes, I'm such a crowd-pleaser!
